Neil Eckert

Executive Chairman

Neil Eckert became a reinsurance broker in 1980, joining Benfield Lovick & Rees & Co in 1986. He was a Board member from 1991 until his resignation in 2000.

Neil founded Brit Insurance Limited in 1995 and remained its CEO until 2005, following which he served as a non-executive director of the company until 2008

Neil was the co-founder and CEO of Climate Exchange PLC until its sale to Intercontinental Exchange in 2010 for approximately £400 million. Following the sale of Climate Exchange, Neil founded Aggregated Micropower which was sold in January 2020.

Neil is currently Chairman of Incubex and is also on the board of Ebix, a $1bn Nasdaq listed company and the world’s leading provider of electronic exchange services to the insurance industry. It has been one of the fastest growing companies in the US over the last decade.

Neil is the Executive Chairman of Conduit. Neil is passionate about all things environmental and will be key to Conduit Re’s ESG strategy.

Trevor Carvey

Group CEO & Bermuda CUO

Trevor has a track record of profitable build outs in the reinsurance industry. In 2002 he was recruited as a founding underwriter and leader at Arch Re Bermuda before which he led the consolidation and subsequent profitable turnaround of the GE Frankona Marine & Energy Global portfolio.

In 2007 Trevor joined Harbor Point Re in the UK to lead the build out of the reinsurance operation over a 5-year period. Subsequently he held the role of CUO Europe in the Alterra Re business which resulted from the merger of Max Re with Harbor Point in 2012.  Trevor was part of the team responsible for the successful integration of the Alterra Global Re unit into Markel delivering an established and profitable business to the enlarged group.

Trevor was approached by Hamilton in 2015, to assist in building out a new treaty strategy in the UK and subsequently took on the role for leading the Lloyd’s approval of the syndicate business plan as active underwriter for the three years from 2016 to 2018.

Trevor is the CEO of Conduit and initially CUO of Conduit Re.

Elaine Whelan

CFO

Elaine is a highly accomplished and experienced public company CFO who has worked in the insurance industry for 20 years. She is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bermuda and a member of The Institute of Directors.

Having trained as an accountant with Coopers & Lybrand, Elaine started working as an auditor at PwC in Bermuda in 1997.  From 2001 to 2006 she held a number of positions at Zurich Insurance Company, Bermuda Branch, ending up as Chief Accounting Officer.  In 2006 she joined the Lancashire Group as Financial Controller.  She subsequently performed various financial and management roles for the Lancashire Group, including as CEO, Lancashire Insurance Company Limited.  From January 2011 to February 2020 Elaine was Group CFO, Lancashire Holdings Limited, and she was also a main board director from 2013 to February 2020.

Elaine is based in Bermuda and is responsible for all aspects of Conduit Re’s financial management and reporting and will sit as an executive director on the board of Conduit Holdings Limited and Conduit Reinsurance Limited.

Sir Brian Williamson

Sir Brian Williamson has held a number of chairmanships and directorships in Banking, Exchanges, Funds & Investment Trusts, and Private Equity.

He served as chair and chief executive of Gerrard Group PLC and has held directorships at HSBC Holdings PLC, NYSE Euronext, Fleming Emerging Markets Investment Trust PLC, Templeton Emerging Market Investment Trust PLC, Waverton Investment Trust PLC and chaired Electra Private Equity PLC and Resolution Life Group.

Sir Brian was one of the four founders of London International Financial Futures Exchange and twice chair, where he oversaw the transition to electronic trading. He is a director of the London International Vintners Exchange and Incubex. He is Chairman of RJ Fleming & Co Ltd, vice chairman of Bergos Fleming in Zurich and a director of Politeia.

Elizabeth Murphy

Elizabeth Murphy is a qualified chartered accountant and has worked in the (re)insurance industry for over 30 years. Having moved to Bermuda to work for Coopers & Lybrand, Elizabeth began her career in (re)insurance as chief financial officer at ACE Tempest Reinsurance Ltd from 1993 to 2000, subsequently serving as treasurer of ACE Limited for the next two years.

Elizabeth has held several executive and non-executive roles, including serving as chief financial officer and executive vice president of Scottish Re and as an executive director and chief financial officer of Amlin Bermuda Ltd / Amlin AG. She has also been a non-executive director of Kiln Limited and served on the Board of SCPIE Holdings Inc. Elizabeth is a non-executive director of Bernina Re Ltd., where she chairs the Audit Committee, Investment Committee and Reserving Committee.

Ken Randall

A certified accountant, Ken Randall has worked in the insurance industry for more than 45 years. In the 1980s, Ken was head of regulation at Lloyd’s, at the time a self-regulated institution. From 1985 until 1991 Ken served as Merrett Group’s chief executive.

In 1991, Ken formed a partnership with Alan Quilter to set up Randall & Quilter. Over the next eight years they developed the Randall & Quilter Group’s principal subsidiary, the Eastgate Group, into the UK’s largest third-party provider of insurance services.

In 2007 Ken presided over the Randall & Quilter Group’s admission to AIM, part of the London Stock Exchange. Ken remains a principal shareholder and is Executive Chairman of the Randall & Quilter Group.

Malcolm Furbert

Residing in Bermuda, Malcolm Furbert is a corporate and regulatory lawyer with over 30 years’ experience, including over 15 years’ diverse in-house legal counsel and management experience with Bermuda based (re)insurance companies.

Most recently he was general counsel and head of compliance & regulatory affairs for the Bermuda operations of XL Catlin. In these roles he provided general and transactional legal and regulatory advice and support to all business areas and had oversight over the Bermuda compliance function. He also acted as company secretary to both regulated and non-regulated group companies.

Malcolm is a member of the Bar of England and Wales and the Bermuda Bar.

Dr Richard L. Sandor

An entrepreneur and economist, Dr. Richard L. Sandor is chair and CEO of the American Financial Exchange (AFX) and the CEO of Environmental Financial Products (EFP). He is also the Aaron Director lecturer in Law and Economics at the University of Chicago Law School and an honorary professor at the University of Hong Kong and the school of Economics at Fudan University.

Dr. Sandor is a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Financial Stability and a senior Fellow of the Milken Institute and International Emissions Trading Association. He formerly served on the boards of leading commodity and futures exchanges in the U.S., such as the CME and ICE, and in London and China, as well on the board of American Electric Power, one of North America’s largest utility companies, and several philanthropic and non-for-profit organizations.
